The Zeitschrift für Interkulturellen Fremdsprachenunterricht – MehrSprachen Lehren und Lernen (ZIF) is a scientific publication employing a double-anonymised review process. ZIF’s goal is to promote and intensify scholarly debate on all areas of teaching and learning of foreign, second and heritage languages by presenting a wide range of high-quality contributions.
ZIF is a Diamond Open Access journal. It can be read free of charge and authors can publish their contributions free of charge as well. Since its founding in 1996, ZIF has been published as a purely online journal independent of publishers and accepts no advertising – nevertheless, it is still available free of charge. All of the editing and technical work is performed by a small team of volunteers. All of the expenses for technical implementation of the journal are covered by the Linguistics – Multilingualism research group of TU Darmstadt and the University and State Library Darmstadt.
